#18 Cafè Lavena

• St Mark's square is the center of the city since ever, and the cafes overlooking the square used to be its beating heart. They are now mainly a tourist attraction (locals gather in other places) but in the past their elegant lounges were filled by the most influential citizens, city officials and important foreign visitors.
The one in the picture is the Caffè Lavena, located under the Procuratie Vecchie arches and this is the main lounge with its famous glass chandelier made in Murano's glassworks.
