It was a December early morning and I was onboard a public motorboat (a.k.a. "vaporetto") bound to the railway station. As always, I looked outside the window while passing by St. Mark's waterfront and I noticed I could barely see only a blurred shadow of the Doge's palace. I had my camera with me and thought it was way too bad to take a try. So I wandered playing with focusing on the rain drops over the window's glass. As often, the magic came to my eye unexpected and welcome; the photo was there, right in my viewfinder, only waiting for my finger to press the shutter.
