#20 Beauty from a theft

• I will better explain the title of this post......In a city literally packed with beauties, the Basilica of St. Mark stands apart as an absolute masterpiece. Few people, however, know the story behind the origins of such a marvelous building; the legend tells that in 828 A.D., two venetian merchants stole in Alexandria the relics of St. Mark's evangelist, the patron saint of Venice. To honor and host appropriately the relics, venetians thus decided to build this magnificent cathedral. And this, very briefly, explains where the title of this post comes from....
