#84 The (most) amazing waterway

• Grand Canal ("Canalazzo" as locals call it since ever) has always been, from the earliest centuries of the venetian republic, the city's main waterway and, beyond that, the most important and coveted stage for the most influential and powerful families of Venice.
The Venetian aristocracy has always conceived the Grand Canal as the visual representation of its wealth and political power , building on its banks the stunning palaces that we can admire nowadays, in a race to impress with the magnificence of their homes the people, visitors and, especially, ambassadors and rulers of the world.
